Title: Phineas Gage

Author: John Fleischman

Genre: Non-Fiction

Phineas Gage was a railroad worker in Vermont in 1848 and had a horrible accident.  He was a foreman that worked with explosives when an accident happened with his tamping iron and blasting powder.  Despite having a hole in his head, Phineas made a “complete recovery” but was never the same.  His case led to very important discoveries about the brain.

The theme of this story is about luck. “Was he lucky or not lucky” the author John Fleischman, thought Phineas was lucky.  I don’t agree with the author because there is no such thing as luck.  Things just happen and all things happen for a reason.

I liked the part when the author talked about Phineas life. The accident was well written I think.  Also, I like the part about his life after the accident. I think the story was also boring.
The study of brain, I think, is just weird.  I would recommend this to someone that is into the study of the brain. I would rate this book a 3.0.
